Penthea’s core consists of Peter and Jane. They have been married for more than 35 years. Accompanied by three grown-up children who are always trying to help, one employee and three dogs, Peter and Jane are looking after some 130 animals. Seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Originally an electrician, Peter has been around birds almost all of his life, since he entered an ornithological club as a kid. In his early 30s, he decided to quit his well-paid job and become a full-time falconer. He started presenting falconry to public, grammar schools and kindergartens. However, the first years were rough. It was not easy to make a living of it. But he endured, because he received an incredible support from his wife.

Jane wanted to be a physiotherapist. Or a chemist, like her father. Then she met Peter, and everything changed. At the very beginning of his falconry career, she was right there, helping him out. And she’s been helping him ever since. Today, with more than 25 years of experience with birds of prey and owls, she’s not only Peter’s dear wife, but also his most valuable work partner.
